The Trans Composers Project (TCP) celebrates and uplifts trangender, nonbinary, and genderqueer composers by providing them opportunities to connect, share, learn, and grow with other trans, queer, and allied musicians.
The Trans Composers Project (TCP) is dedicated to celebrating transgender composers in the United States through performances and recordings of their works by world-class musicians, as well as gatherings that connect trans musicians to other queer and allied musicians.
TCP is excited to team up with Queer Music Midwest.
Our projects this year include:
Partnering with top new music performers across the United States, the TCP will present and record a series of 4-6 concerts dedicated to the works of student-stage transgender composers collected through a national call for scores during the 2026-27 concert season. The TCP will organize a virtual gathering for trans composers at all career stages to connect and discuss our experience in the field of music composition. The purpose of the gathering is both professional networking and community building. If you are a trans composer interested in attending, you can subscribe to updates about the program.
The TCP will launch a crowdfunding campaign to support our inaugural season, helping make our concerts and community programming possible. Donations will directly fund our performer, venue, and recording costs, as well as other essential expenses, allowing us to create meaningful opportunities for transgender composers across the United States. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, the TCP relies on community support to bring our programming to life.
